The Analects of Confucius is a compilation of historical stories that encapsulate the fundamental principles of the Confucian tradition, including learning, morality, ritual conduct, and filial piety. It was originally written in ancient Chinese, employing specific arrangements and grammatical structures of that era. When I was studying The Analects of Confucius in elementary school, I noticed that students were primarily focused on memorizing the format and sequence of the text rather than grasping its meaning. This situation somewhat resembles how English speakers approach Old English literature. To issue this challenge, a scroll was created that combines Ancient Chinese, Old English, and Modern English translations for each phrase. This scroll is complemented by a website functioning as a dictionary, providing translations of the Ancient Chinese and Old English texts into Modern Chinese and Modern English. The aim is to facilitate a better understanding of the content for contemporary readers, bridging the linguistic and temporal gaps between the original text and its modern interpretation.
