Ocean Healing
Reflecting on my high school years in California, weekends were often spent at different beaches with my family. These trips became some of my favorite memories and made me wonder why the ocean draws people in—whether it’s the crashing waves or the openness of the blue horizon.
My curiosity led me to explore how ocean sounds affect the body and mind. The repeating flow of waves activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowers heart rate, reduces stress, and creates a steady environment that supports calmness and inner peace.
This inspired me to translate the ocean’s sensory experience through graphic design. I began with a book shaped by the textures and gradients of the coastline, then expanded to a website that layers scientific research with audio and visual elements. Through visual storytelling, the project connects research with personal memory and shows how ocean sounds support meditation, mindfulness, and emotional well-being.
